Private Care Association of Florida’s Board of Directors Elects Jim Mark

Orlando, FL – August 12, 2008 – The Private Care Association of Florida met Thursday July 17, 2008 in Tampa for their Board of Directors meeting to elect their 2008-2009 officers. Jim Mark of American Home Companions has been elected Secretary of the association.

Mark is the President of American Home Companions and has been in the live-in-care business for the last five years. Based in Orlando, American Home Companions has grown to become the largest Live-in Companion Agency in Florida serving 21 counties. As an active member of the Private Care Association of Florida, Mark has promoted affordable in-home care options for Florida’s seniors. “Jim has been an invaluable member of the Private Care Association of Florida. I am delighted that the membership has recognized his leadership and service by electing him as our new Secretary,” states the Private Care Association of Florida’s Executive Director Corey Mathews, CAE.

Since 1977, the Private Care Association has been committed to protecting for-profit caregiver registries through its active government relations program. As the only national voice for caregiver registries, PCA promotes the consumer-directed model of care. The principal advantages of consumer-directed care are that it costs less, provides consumers greater participation in decisions concerning their care, allows consumers to individually select caregivers, provides greater continuity in caregiver relationships, more generously compensates the caregiver and supports caregiver entrepreneurship.

Since 1992, American Home Companions has offered the services of in-home eldercare companions allowing Florida seniors to live in the familiar and secure setting of their own home. American Home Companions works with hospitals, physicians, social workers, rehabilitation centers, nurse registries, and home health agencies in a combined effort to allow older adults to live their golden years in the comfort of their own homes.
